Company Profile
Sharpe Pritchard is a 200-year-old law firm which acts for a range of public and private sector clients on complex and high-profile matters. We have special expertise in advising the public sector and are regarded as the ‘go to firm’ by a wide range of public bodies – including the UK Government – for public law advice on significant policies and programmes. We are also instructed by corporates to advise on commercial public law mandates.
Across the firm, our lawyers advise on public law of one sort or another. Indeed, several of the firm’s lawyers have been recruited from the public sector (e.g., the Government Law Department). This gives us distinct, valuable insights when advising clients on public law matters as we can bring to bear our understanding of public law duties and powers, equalities and human rights, subsidy control and procurement. As a firm, our offering is unique when compared with that offered by our rivals.
Our commerciality and understanding of how potential challengers think enables us to support the public sector in making defensible and strong decisions. On the other hand, our knowledge and experience of working for the public sector more generally generates significant instructions from corporate clients – we can offer them insight into how decisions that impact their business are made and how they can be challenged.
