Company Profile
Astroscale is the first private company with a vision to secure the safe and sustainable development of space for the benefit of future generations, and the leading company dedicated to in-orbit servicing across all orbits.
Founded in 2013, Astroscale is developing innovative and scalable solutions across the spectrum of in-orbit servicing, including end-of-life, active debris removal and life extension of satellites, to create sustainable space systems and mitigate the growing and hazardous build-up of debris in space.
Headquartered in Japan, Astroscale has an international presence with subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, the United States and Israel. Astroscale Ltd, the UK and European subsidiary of Astroscale Holdings Inc. (“Astroscale”), has focussed on developing debris removal services since 2017.
The UK team is leading the Mission Operations, Ground Segment and commercialisation of Astroscale’s End-of-Life services, including delivering the ELSA-d mission operations and the development of our ELSA-M multi-client service.
We’re also progressing a UK Active Debris Removal (ADR) mission study to remove two defunct satellites. We launched our first product – the Astroscale Docking Plate ready for customisation and launch. In Situ Space Situational Awareness is a growing area of our business – we have ambitious plans to develop our capability and service-offering in the UK over the coming years.
The UK and European team is rapidly growing, with over 100 employees housed in new premises that include offices, satellite servicer manufacturing facilities and a Mission Control Centre within the Zeus building complex located on Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, Oxfordshire, UK.
Astroscale is also defining business cases and working with UK and European government and commercial stakeholders to develop norms, regulations, and incentives for the responsible use of space.
Astroscale is an innovative company working to advance the safe and sustainable development of space. Our teams are ensuring further economic growth in the space sector and helping to protect our space environment for future generations. We’re keen to build partnerships across government, the space industry, investors, and beyond.
