The Seattle Seahawks’ bid to win their first ever Superbowl title this weekend was given a
jumbo-sized boost yesterday, as Boeing painted its iconic 747 aircraft in the Blue, Green & White of Seahawkscolours
With 747 final assembly located in the Seattle area, Boeing also showed its support by flying the 747-8F freighter version in a “12” shaped route/ pattern above the Washington skies, to reflect the “12th man” name given to the loud and vocal Seahawks fans.
The 747 is an extremely familiar figure in UK skies, as not only is the aircraft regularly seen from Heathrow and Gatwick under British Airways and Virgin Atlantic operations, but also due to the number of UK companies which supply various components for the aircraft – from wing spoilers to tyres to even flight deck surveillance.
And who knows, if Chester FC or AirbusUK Broughton FC ever required some support, could Airbus be tempted to use one its A380s & follow suit over the North Wales skies….?
