Izzy gives us a rapid-fire run through what she gets up to at MBDA, perfect for a coffee-break read.
What made you want to pursue a career in the sector and an apprenticeship?
I’ve watched my dad have a very successful career within the defence industry which inspired my interest. I’m a visual learner so the idea of putting into practice what I was learning, whilst continuing to develop myself was what drew me to an apprenticeship.
What is your day-to-day role like, has it changed much due to the pandemic?
Every day is different! Working from home has benefitted me because it’s given me the opportunity to work within a team that isn’t located at my local office.
Have you worked on any interesting projects / programs during your apprenticeship?
Aside from my placements I have been able to help with numerous company and charity events!
What has been the best thing about your apprenticeship, has anything surprised you?
I really didn’t expect to make the friends I have on my scheme! I have a great support system around me!
Would you recommend an apprenticeship to people looking to make a first step in their career?
Absolutely! An apprenticeship is the best investment in yourself you could make!
What is your advice to someone who would like to join an apprenticeship scheme?
Go for it!! You get out everything you put into an apprenticeship and more!
