“Today’s Budget underscores the important role of Aerospace in helping rebalance the nation’s economy by shifting the UK towards high-value manufacturing.

“The Chancellor reaffirmed the unprecedented support given to Aerospace in last year’s Autumn Statement, announcing that £16 million, matched by industry, will go to support aerospace R&D by companies and research organisations in the Midlands.

“The government’s long-term commitment to R&D funding will enable the UK’s Aerospace industry to continue making valuable economic returns by competing successfully in tough global markets, boosting productivity and remaining attractive to foreign investment.

"Also announced in the Budget was confirmation that Sir John Parker would lead the National Ship Building Strategy. This important strategy formed part of last year’s Strategic Defence and Security Review; we look forward to working with Sir John and making a contribution on behalf of our sectors.”
