The Prime Minister announced on Tuesday that the Government would set in law a target of reducing carbon emissions by 78 per cent by 2035.
The target in the UK’s 6th Carbon Budget will, for the first time, include international aviation and shipping emissions.
ADS Chief Executive Kevin Craven said:
“The UK aerospace sector is committed to delivering net zero aviation by 2050. This is a challenging target that will require long-term investment and commitment by Government and industry, working in partnership.
“Backed by both industry and Government through the Aerospace Technology Institute, companies across the UK are now taking forward innovative R&D projects that will play a crucial role in making net zero aviation a reality.
“We look forward to working with Government, along with the Jet Zero Council, to ensure green aerospace manufacturing is an export success story for Global Britain in the decades ahead.”
