Data released today by aerospace trade organisation ADS Group shows the UK’s aerospace industry is catching up with 2015 production levels, narrowing the gap to just three per cent. Deliveries for commercial aircraft in May are the highest ever on record; 128 aircraft rolled off the production line, worth up to £2bn to the UK aerospace industry.
Demand for new aircraft continues, with year-to-date orders up nearly 40 per cent on 2015. This is matched by a similar growth in demand for engines which is four times higher than May last year as airlines and lessors continue to select engines for previously ordered aircraft.
Paul Everitt, Chief Executive of ADS Group, commented: “Next month the UK’s aerospace industry will be at the centre of global focus as we host the Farnborough International Airshow. This year’s show will be the biggest yet with the largest ever presence from the US and China.
“I look forward to major orders being announced at the show which will translate into more high-skill, high-value work nationwide, and the UK’s aerospace industry continuing to make its strategically important contribution to national prosperity.”
The next monthly aircraft data will be published on Monday 25 July 2016.
