Today the Government has announced a package of support to discount the cost of gas and electricity for businesses and other non-domestic organisations, in addition to the support for households already announced.
The support will apply to fixed contracts agreed on or after 1 April 2022, as well as to deemed, variable and flexible tariffs and contracts, applying initially to energy usage from 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2023. A review will be published in three months to inform decisions on future support.
Responding to the announcement, ADS Chief Executive Kevin Craven said:
“ADS welcomes today’s announcement of support for businesses with gas and electricity costs over the next six months.
“Rising energy prices are a major concern for our members, particularly smaller employers, and this discount will help many address the immediate cashflow pressures they are facing.
“Higher costs of energy, raw materials and other business essentials may persist and I hope Government will work closely with us to ensure our members continue to receive the support they need to compete internationally and deliver for their customers.”
