Delivery rates reflect industry transition to manufacture of new aircraft

  • Commercial aircraft deliveries for February 2016 down 6% from year-to-date levels in Feb 2015
  • Slower delivery rates reflect production transition to cleaner, quieter and more efficient aircraft
  • Feb 2016 represented largest ever jump in delivery levels from any January to a February

Data released today by aerospace trade organisation ADS Group shows that while delivery rates for commercial aircraft have slowed, the drop in numbers reflects a move by manufacturers to begin producing next generation aircraft.

Paul Everitt, Chief Executive of ADS Group, commented: “We have seen a relatively slow start to aircraft deliveries in 2016 as manufacturers prepare for the introduction of new aircraft types. Air traffic is increasing in all major markets, order books remain at record levels and we expect delivery rates to increase through the year.”

“The UK’s aerospace industry continues to focus on productivity and capacity to support the global growth in demand for new, cleaner, greener aircraft.”
