·         A record 139 aircraft delivered in June 2016

·         $124bn worth of orders announced at the Farnborough International Airshow

·         Delivery levels up by 40 per cent in five years

Figures released today by aerospace trade organisation ADS Group show the industry saw a record June, with 139 aircraft coming off the production line. The order backlog is three per cent higher than the same period in 2015 worth up to £195bn to the UK, demonstrating that while productivity continues to rise there is ongoing demand for quieter, more efficient aircraft.

Orders for new aircraft will see a boost following the Farnborough Airshow - held this month - at which $124bn worth of deals were announced, with Sir Richard Branson attending the first day of the show to confirm the purchase of 12 Airbus A350s.

The show saw 1500 exhibitors from 52 countries; in total 73,000 trade visitors attended over the first five days.

Paul Everitt, Chief Executive of ADS Group, commented: “June’s aircraft delivery rates demonstrate the sector is steadily ramping up production in response to record order books. This is good news for the UK, where investment in skills, technology and productivity through the Aerospace growth Partnership is helping to sustain long-term, high value jobs across the country.

“The Farnborough International Airshow is a fantastic national asset; a truly global business event which provides the UK with an opportunity to showcase the breadth of UK aerospace, defence and space expertise at a time when investment and exports are a top priority.”
