Aircraft orders for July worth £2.5bn matched by record orders for engines

  • Aircraft engine order book hits record new high with UK industry to deliver 22,458 new engines
  • Positive effects of July’s Farnborough international Airshow continue to boost industry with orders for 201 single aisle aircraft placed in July 
  • Total aircraft backlog now stands at a record 13,335 

Figures released today by trade organisation ADS Group show that the UK’s high-value, high-skill aerospace industry is looking towards a busy future with orders for engines during July 2016 four times higher than in July 2015. This rise pushes the backlog of engines on order up to 22,548 – the highest ever recorded. 

July also saw orders placed for 201 single aisle aircraft. The orders, driven by the Farnborough Airshow, are worth up to £2.5bn to UK industry and equate to the highest ever backlog of single aisle aircraft on the order book which now stands at 10,785.
