Aerospace and defence companies recognised for supply chain excellence
Three companies are recognised today at Farnborough International Airshow for achieving the highest possible “Gold” performance standard as suppliers in the aerospace and defence industries.
The Achieving Supply Chain Excellence event sees 44 companies from around the UK and Ireland recognised with performance awards for boosting their competitiveness through the 21st Century Supply Chains (SC21) programme.
The Achieving Supply Chain Excellence event is sponsored by the National Physical Laboratory and is being attended by more than 150 aerospace and defence industry supply chain representatives. The programme helps small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the aerospace and defence sectors to make operational improvements, reduce overheads and improve their potential to grow.
This Achieving Supply Chain Excellence award event is the second this year following one in Belfast in January.
This time the following performance awards have been given:
Gold performance awards have been achieved for the first time and have been awarded to one company from the North of England and two companies in Northern Ireland:
- A&G Precision Engineering Ltd from Poulton-le-Fylde in England
- Denroy Plastics Ltd from Bangor, Northern Ireland
- Moyola Precision Engineering Ltd from Castledawson, Northern Ireland.
Silver performance awards to four companies:
- Kuehne + Nagel Ltd – Houndstone from Yeovil, England
- Kuehne + Nagel Ltd – Leonardo Production Stores from Yeovil, England
- Electrical Manufacturing Centre – Leonardo Helicopters Division from Yeovil, England
- Allan Webb Ltd from Stonehouse, England.
Bronze performance awards to six companies:
- Two from Northern Ireland – RW Powder Coatings from Comber and Vita Materials Ltd from Dunmurry
- All Metal Service – Avonmouth from Bristol, England
- Scientific Management International Ltd from Andover, England
- Stop-choc Ltd from Slough, England
- Croom Precision Engineering Ltd from Croom, Republic of Ireland.
A further nine companies will be re-awarded with silver award status, and 22 saw their bronze level accreditation re-awarded.
Performance awards will also be presented to award winners who were not able to attend previous award ceremonies.
The programme aims to support SMEs who supply major manufacturers such as Airbus, Babcock, BAE Systems, Bombardier, Leonardo, Rockwell Collins, Rolls Royce and Thales, helping the whole of the UK’s aerospace and defence industries raise their ability to compete in international markets.
The SC21 programme is coordinated and governed by ADS, the UK trade association for the aerospace, defence, security and space sectors.

“As we approach Brexit, it is important for supply chain companies to plan ahead and ensure they continue to focus on quality, cost and delivery. This is the best way to maintain the confidence of customers and navigate the headwinds and uncertainties associated with leaving the EU.”
