Department for Transport has today published a consultation on its proposals for an aviation strategy, which will set out the challenges and opportunities for aviation to 2050 and beyond.

The strategy will focus on areas including promoting sustainable growth that meets rising demand for aviation and reduces environmental impacts, improving the passenger experience - such as through technology and innovation - and building on the UK's success to establish new connections around the world.

ADS welcomes publication of the consultation and will be working to engage with the Government's proposals in the coming months.

ADS Chief Executive Paul Everitt said:

“Today’s publication of the Government’s Aviation 2050 strategy is an important step in delivering a more sustainable UK aviation industry. The UK is a world-leader in aviation, supporting high value jobs across the country and facilitating international trade and tourism.

“Industry is committed to working closely with Government to implement the new strategy.

“The recently agreed aerospace sector deal will support the development of advanced new technologies like hybrid and electric aircraft. These will help reduce noise, cut emission and sustain valuable manufacturing jobs.”
