Universal Wiring Systems continues SC21 success

The SC21 award was presented to UWS at the SC21 Task Force meeting on 19th November, in Bristol.
This demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to the SC21 programme which has been the driving force behind significant quality and delivery improvements for UWS over the past three years.
This commitment is demonstrated by the SC21 diagnostic results for UWS. In two years, its Manufacturing Excellence (ManEx) score has risen from 323 to 439 whilst an impressive Business Excellence (BusEx) score of 454 has been achieved. The company also delivered a perfect 100% quality score.
These results would have been enough to comfortably retain the Silver SC21 status that the company previously held but a challenging 2015 during which UWS was tasked with integrating two production shops into one facility meant this was not possible. Despite this complicated task being completed smoothly and efficiently the inevitable impact on delivery figures meant even gaining Bronze status was a real achievement. UWS are confident that a return to Silver award status will be achieved in 2016.
Now approaching nearly 20 years’ experience of electrical harnessing UWS operates from a fully air-conditioned 9,000 sq ft facility which is fully equipped including Uly’s Modena 330 UV laser coding machine and three over-braiding machines.

SC21 is a change programme designed to accelerate the competitiveness of the Aerospace, Defence & Security (ADS) industries by raising the performance of supply chains to the level necessary to meet the unprecedented demand for new aircraft that is forecast for the next 20 years.

That future for UWS in 2016 is planned to include a return to SC21 Silver status, re-scoring of the SC21 diagnostics as well as conducting relationship workshops with key customers such as Agusta Westland. In addition the company will aim to maintain AS9100 certification whilst also working towards ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 accreditations.
