Innovation often comes from Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and the UKCeB is coordinating an Innovation Challenge for Maritime that can also have wider applicability in defence.

The reward for entrants is significant exposure for their business and its products and services – plus the possibility of winning the £50k prize and, for some entrants the possibility of winning business &/or other funded innovation opportunities.

UKCeB is looking for asisstance in locating these SMEs and to encourage them to put themselves forward for the Maritime Innovation Challenge. Although you may not work for an SME – you may know of one or more likely candidates and could please oblige by forwarding details about the Innovation Challenge.

The Challenge is open to SMEs regardless of whether they operate in the defence sector. SMEs need to register their interest now and no later than 31st January 2016 - email suzette.ward@ukceb.org

Registered SMEs will then be sent an Information Pack (after 31st January 2016) and will have roughly two months to prepare and submit their entry.  The Challenge has been split into three Categories and the solutions should aid predictive, near-real time and evidence-based decision making in order to:

a. Improve asset performance (availability, capability and readiness)

b. Maintain safety levels at sea

c. Reduce through-life costs

The SME winner of the Maritime Innovation Challenge will be announced on the second day (21st April 2016) of the Defence Information 2016 Event.
