UK Defence Secretary visits India

Sir Michael Fallon is currently on a visit to India (from 11 to 14 April) - the third British Cabinet Minister to visit the country this month - aiming to further the defence and international security partnership. The UK Secretary of State for Defence, Rt Hon Sir Michael Fallon MP (right) will join his counterpart, Arun Jaitley for the first India-UK Strategic Dialogue, which was agreed in November 2015 during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to London as part of the Defence and International Security Partnership.

He will visit Mumbai and Delhi, where he will meet senior Indian Ministry of Defence officials, military staff, business and opinion leaders.

The visit will further cement the defence and international security partnership which aims to strengthen collaboration and cooperation between India and the UK, including by enhancing mutual capabilities and effectiveness through joint training and doctrine development.

The India-UK Strategic Dialogue will look at ways of enforcing cooperation on science and technology, research and development, and countering violent extremism.
