TVS is already a recognised expert in defence logistics in the UK and Europe; the company is keen to bring this experience to its home territory by launching a campaign to share some of the capability and expertise it has developed and now delivers in some of the UK MoD’s largest logistics programmes.

The company has a long-standing relationship with the UK MoD and services a number of military contracts, including the provision of spare parts for Land Rover and Armoured Fighting Vehicles, along with workshop spares, for a range of fighting vehicles including; Warrior, CVR (T), Challenger II, CRARRV, Stormer, Titan and Trojan. The company also has a contract to procure and support consumables for Army field kitchens and operates bespoke Defence warehousing facilities.

With the ability to manage obsolescence across a variety of defence equipment including vehicles and a range of support solutions for battlefield equipment, including the Rapier missile system, TVS is now offering its skills and capabilities to support the Indian Armed Forces with the challenges they face in supporting legacy vehicle fleets.

In 2015 TVS, through its UK Supply Chain Solutions business, was successful in its bid to Leidos Europe Ltd to become part of Team Leidos; the expert team of defence and logistic specialist subcontractors charged with delivering the UK MoD’s Logistic Commodities & Services Transformation (LCS[T]) programme.

LCS(T) will provide significant operational effectiveness by delivering improved responsiveness and agility. It will also improve efficiency in procurement and stock control of food, clothing, general and medical supplies as well as storage and distribution. It is expected to deliver financial savings of around £0.5 billion over the next 13 years.

Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology, Philip Dunne MP, said at the time of contract award: “I am pleased to confirm that the transaction with Team Leidos will bring the military’s logistics, commodities and support services up to the standard of industry best practice, deliver more efficient and effective processes across the supply chain and enhance the quality of support provided to our Armed Forces.

"This will generate significant savings of around £0.5 billion over the life of the contract, representing good value for money for the taxpayer and, in due course, will deliver state of the art fulfilment to our inventory management processes and systems. The transaction will involve the TUPE transfer of some 1,250 staff.”

Mr Ravichandran the Executive Director of TVS Logistics Services Ltd, is hoping that TVS’ UK position will transition into winning Indian MoD business: “This is one of the reasons for our presence at DEFEXPO and the profile we had during the Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to the UK. At present, India’s MoD supply chain is managed internally along the lines of the UK MoD before its recent changes.

"Using our expertise gained in various UK MoD contracts we aim to position TVS through Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Made In India’ banner to bring a new streamlined logistic supply chain for India’s MoD which would benefit from sophisticated inventory planning and management, consolidation of warehousing and proven IT systems capable of storing, analysing and streamlining procurement processes for true best value. We intend to transform India’s Defence logistics landscape by combining TVS’s significant in-country capability and its UK experience to deliver certainty of military supply at minimal cost.”
