Theorem release latest 3D PDF publisher with HTML5 output

Tamworth based Theorem has released the latest version of its 3D PDF document publisher, which is part of the Publish 3D suite of products.

Theorem’s Publish 3D offers 3D PDF publishing for engineering and manufacturing organisations that design with 3DEXPERIENCE, CATIA V5, Creo, or NX, or want to extend the use of their JT data to create interactive 3D PDF documentation. This latest release also enables data to be output in HTML5.

Theorem’s Publish 3D suite of products is powered by Adobe’s native 3D PDF publishing technology toolkit, which is also used in Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader.

Able to work directly from within a CAD design session, or in standalone mode, the 3D PDF publisher supports the creation of documentation into the 3D PDF format, combining 3D design data representations with full Product Manufacturing Information (PMI). Using 3D PDF during the manufacturing process removes the requirement for costly 2D drawings to be output from the CAD source data.

The IP of the native CAD data is protected in the 3D PDF format but data can still be exchanged. Passwords can be set on the documents so that only certain people can access the data.

Publish 3D is a fully integrated solution that supports Model Based Definition (MBD) processes for downstream data re-use. The solution offers enhanced functionality, which enables the design author to pass on information such as PMI, Geometry, Assembly Structure, Metadata, and Visualization attributes directly to other departments within an organisation – without the need for drawings to be produced.

The use of 3D PDF means that anybody with access to Adobe Reader can consume, view and mark up 3D data, eliminating the need to install specialist viewing software. What 3D does is remove ambiguity when reviewing product data and improve communication. Within an organisation, 3D PDF extends the use of CAD data into downstream processes.

As an ISO standard, the lightweight 3D PDF is ideal for collaboration and maintaining the original 3D geometry and product information; additional information such as spreadsheets, hyperlinks, AVIs etc. can also be attached to the 3D PDF document.

Using 3D PDF is an ideal way of leveraging CAD and PLM assets. It reduces costs and time to manufacture, improves quality by eliminating potential errors due to transcription and interpretation of drawing data, it safeguards intellectual property and it can also save on expensive CAD licenses.
