This award follows Stirling's recent announcement that they have delivered the 250th F-35 stick and throttle units to customers including Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems. Under this new contract, Stirling will assemble the sets in Bristol, UK and will deliver to the customer in Autumn 2016.

Stirling AMS Business Manager, Gareth Vaughan, said of the contract award: “Our US and UK teams bring a wealth of experience and skill to the development and production of our simulation cockpit sets. Stirling’s proven technology will provide a highly reliable and effective synthetic solution for Pax River personnel to train and maintain aircraft currency. The key benefits of our F-35 active simulator controls are that they have been developed in parallel with the actual flight-worthy controls and are like-for-like in terms of realism and fidelity and are a key part of our range of high fidelity simulator flight controls.”

Work on the contract order has begun with the first sets being delivered to the customer next month. This is another significant export contract for Stirling Dynamics, an SME based in Bristol, and is a further demonstration of how the F-35 programme is benefiting the UK economy.
