Spencer Ogden, the international energy, engineering, and infrastructure recruitment firm, has today announced the launch of its new international space, aerospace, and defence department. The new division represents a logical step forward for the company, which will leverage its global presence in the UK, the US, and Asia to supply high-quality talent to major engineering and manufacturing organisations all over the world. With convenient access to these industries and streamlined sourcing processes already in place, Spencer Ogden is ideally placed to provide recruitment services to these valuable, growing markets.

Led by Chris Taylor who joins Spencer Ogden as associate director, the UK division will be run from the company’s Bristol office, which will also open today. Taylor brings with him 15 years of recruitment experience having previously ran Modis’ UK and European engineering teams, where he won Adecco Group Manager of the Year twice, Modis Manager of the Year once, and Modis Manager of the Quarter ten times.

Speaking of the new division and his role, Taylor commented: “I’m over the moon to be joining Spencer Ogden. The opportunity to launch and manage the new department from our Bristol office was too good to turn down. These markets have been dominated by the same players for years, and they’re in need of some fresh blood – we fully intend to shake things up”

On an international level, the new division will be incorporated into Spencer Ogden’s existing offices in Houston and Singapore. Run by Chris Tedder and Tom Reid respectively, the latter will focus on space and aerospace recruitment across Asia, while the former concentrates on jobs in all three departments across the US.

Tedder, who has been with Spencer Ogden for three years, said: “The space, aerospace, and defence markets are natural fits for Spencer Ogden, and I’m looking forward to building on the great work we’re already doing here in Houston. We’re looking forward to filling our clients’ MRO, manufacturing and production facilities with the very best talent available.”

Spencer Ogden has a long history of diversification: having started out as a 360 energy recruitment firm, the company’s broader portfolio now includes automotive, built environment and rail, alongside the new space, aerospace, defence and R&D department.

David Spencer-Percival, CEO of Spencer Ogden, remarked: “The recent oil price crash forced us to rethink the way Spencer Ogden operated – and ultimately, it was for the better: we’ve diversified, we’ve adapted, and we’ve come out stronger for it.

“Launching this new department is a sign of our progress so far, and an indicator of things to come. I’ve every confidence in the leaders we’ve selected, and in the teams we’ve built, and I’m expecting big things in the near future.”
