Named Best Airport in the UK for three years running by Which? magazine, London Southend Airport has launched its new Executive Jet Centre for 2017 at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva this week.

The announcement was made at Europe’s premier event for the business aviation community – EBACE 2017 – which is being held at the Geneva Palexpo (22-24 May).

The Stobart Exec Jet Centre has newly upgraded facilities and a quick central London transfer service, due to a newly announced helicopter partnership with Apollo Air Services. The new partnership with Apollo Air Services offers luxury helicopter charters in to the heart of London. Transfers from London Southend to Canary Wharf take just 10 minutes, or 15 minutes to Battersea, aboard luxury, all weather, 150+kts endurance Agusta 109 GrandNew helicopters.

With a comprehensive development and expansion programme well underway at the airport, London Southend is already vying for the title of London’s Best Airport. It boasts facilities that are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and just 10 minutes away from central London (by helicopter), 45 minutes by train (six services per hour from a dedicated station just 100 paces from the terminal) or less than an hour by road.

There are no slot restrictions, with better departure routes outside of London airspace, offering shorter flight times and less fuel burn. On site immigration and customs offer pre-clearance for qualifying passengers and there is an award-winning 4-star airport hotel offering 24 hr check-in/out for late night and early morning flights. Landing, parking, handling and transfers including helicopter and executive chauffeur services are also available.

From London Southend, alongside combined landing and helicopter combination services to anywhere within 20 minutes flying time of the airport, there is a door-to-door chauffeured car service and executive boat transfers on the Thames from Canary Wharf.

Speaking at EBACE, Stobart Group CEO, Warwick Brady said: "There is little doubt in my mind with the formidable capacity issues in the UK’s South East airspace, and the level of service and facilities we offer, that we are perfectly positioned to become a serious player in the London market. Beyond that, our newly launched Executive Jet Centre, complete with comprehensive FBO facilities, fully serviced executive lounge and a new helicopter transfer partnership with Apollo, make us the wise choice for the discerning private jet traveller. We have all the ingredients, and a really exciting time ahead. I would urge all air travellers in to or out of London, be they commercial or private, to give us a try."

London Southend Airport, part of Stobart Group, was voted ‘Best in Britain’ by readers of Which? magazine in 2013, 2014 & 2015 and ‘Best Small Airport’ by the Airport Operators Association in 2015 & 2016.
