Shannon IASC hosts ADS MROL SIG Meeting

Over the past 70 years, Shannon has played a pivotal role in the development in the Aviation industry in Ireland as well as on a broader global basis (for example, Aviation Leasing was invented in Shannon in 1975) and with the establishment of Shannon IASC, Shannon plays a key role in Ireland’s National Aviation Policy.

IASC is also strategically focused on development of not only Aviation opportunities (Leasing, Insurance, Legal Services, Operations, Maintenance, and End-of-Life) but is also strategically targeting the Aerospace end of the value chain (R&D, Design, Flight Test & Certification, Production and Interiors Completion).

Combining this strategic approach with Ireland’s leading global position in the Aircraft Leasing industry, significant opportunities can be created to deepen and diversify current activities in Shannon, as well as create new businesses, in both the Aerospace and Aviation sectors. It is an amazing fact that half of the world’s fleet of Commercial Aircraft are owned by Irish-based Aviation Lessors –more than 4,000 aircraft.

As well as the MROL SIG Meeting itself, the group were given a tour and presentation of the Lufthansa Technik Shannon facility. There were planned senior-level Executive Networking opportunities that allowed ADS Members to gain a strong overview of both the Aviation and Aerospace sectors in Ireland.

Clear opportunities became apparent, primarily driven by the very strong presence of the Aviation Leasing industry in Ireland – for example, Lease Transition, Parking & Storage, Interiors and End-of-Life Solutions. This visit was seen as a strategic first step and we look forward to ongoing collaboration with both Shannon IASC and indeed the wider Aerospace & Aviation Industry in Ireland.

Many Members of the MROL Group commented that this had been the best ever group meeting they had attended and thanked John Clancy from Shannon IASC for hosting and planning such an outstanding event.
