Serco secures EUMETSAT support contract
Serco Germany has signed a framework agreement for the EPS & EPS-SG Analyst and Controller Service at EUMETSAT, the European operational satellite agency for monitoring weather, climate and the environment from space. The contract is valued at more than 20m over a six-year period.

Serco is leading an industrial consortium providing EUMETSAT with a managed service operated by a team of analysts and controllers in charge of controlling the EUMETSAT Polar System and EUMETSAT Polar System-Second Generation satellite family, which represents the new generation of polar-orbiting weather satellites.
By providing this service, Serco will make sure that the European and non-European weather forecast community receives reliable and uninterrupted data from these satellites.
Islam Alizada, Contract Manager at Serco Germany, explained: “EPS Second Generation missions will globally provide the weather prediction, air quality forecast, sea surface temperature and many other value added information which will contribute to understanding how our Earth climate is changing. Our involvement, with my most talented teams being the ones taking care of the real-time satellite operations, makes me feel really proud.”
