The extra flight to Tenerife South will depart on Thursdays to complement the existing Monday service and will go on sale in the next few days. The news is part of a wider announcement made by Ryanair confirming a major expansion that will connect more of its passengers to the Canary Islands due to an increase in demand.

Debra Barber, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer at Cardiff Airport, said: “Ryanair’s decision to expand its network at Cardiff is a real demonstration of the airline’s confidence in the Welsh market. The service has performed consistently well all year round since the route began in October 2014, and demand has continued to grow for more direct flights to the Canary Islands, so it’s great to see the airline responding.

“Today’s announcement is excellent news for our customers, we remain committed to delivering a greater choice of flights, so it’s great to see Ryanair adding more capacity to this popular route.”

Jose Antonio Espartero Alonso, Sales & Marketing Manager at Ryanair, said: “"We are delighted to announce the new winter schedule 2016 for the Canary Islands. The company will continue connecting Canaries with the main European capitals, with more flights and better schedules."
