RAF and Royal Navy come together with BAE Systems on School's Roadshow
BAE Systems, the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Royal Navy have come together for the 14th annual Schools Roadshow, with the aim of opening the eyes of young people to the broad and diverse range of careers opportunities that can be achieved from studying STEM subjects.
This year, pupils across the UK will be treated to an interactive show covering themes that will educate them around communication technology, programming and online security.
The 2019 Schools Roadshow kicked off at The St Marylebone CE School in London and will visit over 400 schools throughout the country to encourage young people to be responsible and confident users of technology. Pupils will be introduced to the science behind mobile phones, Bluetooth, radar and infra-red sensing and will be given an insight into how some of these technologies are applied at home and in the workplace.

The flagship Schools Roadshow reaches around 100,000 primary and secondary school children and brings to life the importance of STEM, helping to inspire the next generation of scientists, technologists and engineers.”
Apprentice Week
During this National Apprentice Week, BAE Systems will be joining other employers to celebrate the success of apprenticeships, highlighting their benefits and challenging some of the myths and misconceptions.
This year’s BAE Systems' campaign focuses on ‘Blazing a Trail’ – celebrating how apprenticeships help individuals and their companies grow and develop. It also highlights ‘skills for the future’ – showing how apprenticeships help companies ensure their workforce have the right skills to meet future work demands.
Across the UK, BAE Systems' apprentices will be spending the week at careers fairs and public engagement events, delivering STEM activities to children, working together in charity action including beach cleans and grounds maintenance projects and shadowing directors of its business.
Also this week, BAE Systems' annual UK Apprentice Awards will celebrate the best of the company's craft, technical and business apprentices from across the business, before they name their UK Apprentice of the Year.
BAE Systems have a long tradition of apprenticeships and are among the largest employers of apprenticeships in the UK. BAE Systems was recently named #1 employer of apprentices in the UK on review website Rate My Apprenticeship and won the Macro Employer of the Year Award and the Recruitment Excellence Award at the 2018 National Apprenticeship Awards, recognising the business’ dedication to delivering high-quality apprenticeships.
