QinetiQ Australia appoints Mat Sibree as General Manager Aerospace

Based in South Melbourne, Mat (above) has overall responsibility for 80 engineers and consultants delivering advice and services to defence, industry and commercial customers.

His area of the business also holds unique status as the Australian Defence Force’s chosen partner in aircraft structural integrity as a certified Authorised Engineering Organisation.

Commenting on his appointment, Mat said: “What attracted me to QinetiQ was the integrity of the business and the respected relationship the team has fostered within Defence and industry. I’m in awe of the depth of unique engineering capabilities within the organisation and how our work directly contributes to sustaining Australia’s air power capabilities. I’m excited about the opportunity to further develop QinetiQ Australia’s aerospace domain and leverage these core capabilities to grow the business and our engineering capability through maintaining certification aligned with emerging Defence requirements.”

Mat joins QinetiQ Australia from BAE Systems Australia, where he has held several senior positions over the past five years, most recently as General Manager Aviation Solutions.

Prior to this, Mat worked for Boeing Defence Australia in Army aviation training and Qantas before that as a licensed long haul B747 pilot. Mat did his initial pilot training with the Royal Australian Air Force and was an F-111 pilot and qualified flying instructor.
