An additional flight on both the Manchester to Frankfurt and Dublin to Frankfurt services increases capacity on the two routes by around 25 and 30% respectively.

Meanwhile flights between Glasgow and Munich are being expanded to four a week following the success of the airline’s seasonal service – the first time the service has operated in winter. All of the services will be operated by Airbus A320 family aircraft.

Announcing the additional frequencies Andreas Koester, Senior Director Sales UK, Ireland & Iceland, Lufthansa Group, said: “The UK & Ireland continue to shine as key markets for Lufthansa within our network. The demand for our services has continued to grow and we have been able to increase capacity accordingly.

“The growing demand for seats on our flights proves once again that discerning travellers appreciate the way Lufthansa has responded to the challenges of the travel market in the face of ever-increasing competition. To maintain the leading position in our market we must be better than anyone else in terms of reliability and innovation at a competitive price.”
