Delegates enjoyed a presentation by Jodie Ashworth, marketing coordinator and Caroline Fitzgerald, commercial manager at London Southend Airport, which has recently been linked to Aberdeen Airport by new Loganair services between the two cities.

Attendees also had an opportunity to network and heard from Loganair’s commercial director, Kay Ryan, who hosted the event.

Held in Spaces, Marischel Square, attendees included representatives from Aberdeen Airport, Thomas Cook, Barrhead Travel, Rosemount Travel, Aberdeen Football Club, Munros Travel Group and National Trust for Scotland, among others.

Loganair has plans to host similar events around the UK, as well as working on a number of familiarisation trips to destinations across its network – including the Scottish Islands, Dusseldorf, Bergen and Stavanger.

Beginning on 12 May, Aberdeen will have three non-stop flights to London Southend each way every weekday, along with Sunday services, all operated by Loganair’s Embraer 145 regional jet aircraft. The schedule is designed to enable a full working day in the capital before an evening flight home, including a morning ‘red-eye’ service.

Journey times are just 1 hour and 35 minutes from Aberdeen – followed by a 53-minute train service directly into central London’s Liverpool Street station.

The airline also recently commenced services to Bristol, Oslo and Esbjerg in Denmark from the Granite City.

Kay Ryan said: “This event gave us a great opportunity to share some insight into Loganair’s recent developments in Aberdeen with delegates from the travel industry.

“Over the last few months we have announced a number of major developments and many new services – with the Aberdeen – Southend route a game-change for the region’s connectivity with London.

“We’re keen to hear from agents who’d like to work in partnership on any of our routes across the airline’s extensive network.”
