Loganair launches route to Faroe Islands from Aberdeen
Loganair has announced a twice-weekly air-link between Aberdeen Airport and Vágar in the Faroe Islands the first regular link between the two regions in a number of years.
Unveiled as part of the airline’s summer 2017 schedule, services will operate on Fridays and Sunday beginning on 26 May. Initially running seasonally until September 2017, the airline is monitoring uptake in the hope of rolling out a year round schedule.
The flights will originate in Sumburgh, in Shetland, offering a convenient through-plane service from Shetland to Vágar with a journey time of less than four hours. There will also be convenient connections from Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands via Aberdeen to the new Faroe Islands schedule.
Vágar is one of the 18 islands in the archipelago of the Faroe Islands and the most westerly. Approximately 178 square kilometres in size, it is home to the islands’ international airport and so is often the first destination for visitors travelling to the islands. The Faroe Islands themselves are packed with unique and authentic adventures, especially for travellers interested in outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, angling and boat trips.

Services to the Faroe Islands are on sale and are subject to government approval.
