Debra Barber, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer at Cardiff Airport, said: “KLM plays a vital role in promoting connectivity to and from Wales. It’s important that our customers understand how simple and straight forward it can be to reach medium and long haul destinations with one easy connection, rather than spending extra time and money to drive down the motorway and fly from other airports. Amsterdam Schiphol is a vibrant hub well equipped to help passengers connect to onward destinations with ease.

“To see new connections being added to KLM’s growing network is very exciting. The airline currently flies up to three times a day to Amsterdam and we see consistently strong load factors, in fact the airline will also be operating more flights using its larger Embraer 190 jet aircraft moving forward. Their new partnership with Delta has added a number of new one stop North American connections which will be of huge benefit to our customers who choose to fly from Cardiff to the world.”

Pieter Elbers, KLM President & CEO, said: "Customers from all over Europe fly KLM to our hub in Amsterdam to connect with flights to our destinations around the world. We aim to develop our European network so that we can offer more direct flights to and from Amsterdam and more and better connections via Schiphol. So I am proud to announce that we will add five more European destinations to our network, giving European travellers more options to explore the world. The new destinations are relevant to our hub and to our position in the local markets."
