Icelandair commences flight connections from six UK airports to Chicago
Icelandair, in operation since 1937, has a long, illustrious history of providing flights from Europe to United States, including a 15-year stint to Chicago that began in 1973. Since then, Icelandair has continued to grow as an airline with new aircraft, modern amenities and more destinations. With the announcement of Chicago O’Hare International, Icelandair will now offer services to 16 North American gateways with connections from 6 UK airports including London Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Aberdeen airports.
Nearly two months prior to today’s inaugural flight, Icelandair announced an increase in capacity from the Windy City. This service expansion augments capacity with up to 9,000 additional seats per year using of one of their recently acquired Boeing 767s during the busy summer season, in lieu of the regularly scheduled 757.
