ICAO Secretary General visits UK

She was accompanied on 17 and 18 March by Mark Rodmell, the United Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to ICAO and Luís Fonseca de Almeida, ICAO’s Regional Director for Europe and the North Atlantic.

Whilst here, Dr Liu conducted high-level bilateral meetings with UK Minister of State Robert Goodwill, MP (right); Ms. Patricia Hayes, Director of Civil Aviation; and Ms. Lucy Chadwick, Director General of International, Security and Environment.

Discussions also took place with Andrew Haynes, CEO, of the United Kingdom’s Civil Aviation Authority;  Maria Boyle, CEO, Air Safety Support International; and Juliet Kennedy, Operations Director of NATS Holdings.

Issues covered included sustainable development and social equity, domestic airport capacity, noise pollution, consumer issues and unmanned aircraft operations and ICAO’s efforts to encourage the adoption of a market-based measure for international aviation carbon emissions.
