FUCHS Lubricants, which has its UK headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent, has been presented with the ADS SC21 Silver Award for the third time.

FUCHS is the only lubricants company to have achieved this honour and it is testament to the team’s hard work and commitment to delivering high standards of performance to customers.

SC21 is a change programme designed to accelerate the competitiveness of the aerospace and defence industry by raising the performance of its supply chains.

Companies signed up to the SC21 programme have a chance to enter awards. Organisations achieving and maintaining agreed criteria in terms of delivery, quality, sustainable improvement and the associated improvement frameworks receive recognition in the form of a bronze, silver or gold award.

To achieve the silver level, FUCHS LUBRICANTS (UK) has demonstrated exceptional levels of delivery service, product quality and commitment to sustainable manufacturing.

FUCHS, which manufactures high quality lubricants for the aerospace industry, first received the SC21 Silver award in 2014 and has maintained that status for three consecutive years.

Simeon Preston, UK Compliance Manager at FUCHS, said: “We have recently completed our second diagnostics cycle and our strategy can be aligned to further develop performance within the supply chain.

“The award highlights our commitment to our customers and the industry as a whole. The team at FUCHS has continued to work to, and develop, our sustainable manufacturing code and best working practices, which have been recognised by this award.”

FUCHS develops, manufactures and supplies a comprehensive range of lubricants, including metalworking fluids, wash fluids and corrosion protection lubricants.

Its highly-automated, 20 acre Hanley manufacturing site is audited to the highest levels, including AS9001 Rev C, TS 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and OHSAS 18001, and has on-site R&D facilities and eco-friendly Lube Cube packaging filling lines with bulk tank capabilities.

The company has made a significant investment of over 2,110 solar panels across the site as well as a new state-of-the-art fire suppression system, highlighting the commitment to continued and sustainable UK manufacturing.

FUCHS demonstrated consistently high levels of quality and service from its Stoke-on-Trent site, as well as at customer premises through their Chemical Process Management (CPM) site-based fluid management service.

CPM is a carefully managed, structured system of operations in which all aspects and consequences of fluid usage are monitored and assessed through regular site visits as well as permanent on-site FUCHS personnel where required.

Utilisation of the FUCHS Fluids Live monitoring software, a web-based recording, tracking and reporting tool with integrated KPI measurements, is available to assist each site with their lubrication requirements.

Richard Halhead, Managing Director of FUCHS UK, said: “Continued investment in our manufacturing facility, as well as the process control systems and state-of-the-art logistics services we have here, keep FUCHS at the forefront of customer-centred business.

“Ensuring we’re providing the highest levels of service and quality to our customers, as well as safeguarding the future of UK manufacturing, is of the utmost importance to us and we’re proud to have been recognised for our achievements with the presentation of the SC21 award.”

The award was officially presented to FUCHS LUBRICANTS (UK) plc at the recent SC21 Task Force held at the Manufacturing Technology Centre, Coventry.
