Flybe has started operating its new route between Doncaster Sheffield Airport and Palma de Mallorca.

To celebrate the inaugural flight Doncaster Sheffield airport surprised the lucky customer who made the very first booking for the first flight by presenting her with access to their Premium Lounge where she enjoyed free food and drink before her flight.

Chris Harcombe, Head of Aviation Development at Doncaster Sheffield Airport said: "It was great to welcome Judith and Emily to the airport today along with all of the other passengers making the most of this new route.

“It is always fantastic to see the first flight set off on its new journey. Flybe worked to add this route to its range of popular sun soaked destinations. Today marks a moment of advancement for our region and it's connections with top quality holiday destinations."

Palma is the capital of the Spanish island of Mallorca and offers a great variety of resorts to suit all tastes plus, of course, delivering lots of sunshine - a total of 2,779 hours a year.

The twice weekly service operates through to 2nd October 2017, operating every Monday and Friday.

Vincent Hodder, Flybe’s Chief Revenue Office, commented: “We are pleased to begin flying this new route from Doncaster Sheffield. The timing of the service gives Yorkshire-based passengers the flexibility to choose between either a long weekend or a full week or two in the sun.”
