FliteTrak unveiling intelligent airline seating at AIX2017
Amersham-based FliteTrak is unveiling its innovative ViatorAero system - providing ext generation technology to transform passenger comfort with 'intelligent airline seating' - at the Hamburg Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX), 4-6 April, 2017.
Underpinned by multi award-winning remote condition monitoring technology, ViatorAero can observe individual seats for temperature, movement and seatbelt closure. It also has the capacity for locking overhead bins - during take-off, landing and turbulence - for safety as well as cabin environment monitoring.
The cutting-edge technology – using wireless sensors below rows of seats – can be monitored directly by cabin attendants live on tablet or mobile device in real time during flight.
Data is also logged for later analysis and can provide useful information to help improve maintenance turnaround times on major components and enhance the flying experience for passengers.

ViatorAero is based on advanced iBlox technology which uses small sensors to monitor any function on an asset – including trains, boats and aircraft – such as temperature, air pressure and engine performance.
Data is beamed from the sensors to tablet, desktop or mobile device for use in an app showing individual aeroplane seats.
Examples of ViatorAero use:
• Highlights to attendants which passengers have seatbelts open. This can save valuable time during visual checking, especially during turbulence.
• Movement sensors to allow monitoring passengers who are unwell, in need of assistance, agitated or disruptive.
• Passenger movement during flights can be analysed after the flight
• Logging of broken equipment such as trays, seatbelts and screens can be recorded and the data handed to maintenance crews for rapid correction
All data is treated in confidence and not connected with individual passenger names although airlines may request a bespoke system to predict personal passenger preferences.
