Exova has signed a two year contract extension with Försvarets Materielverk (FMV), the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, worth approximately SEK 70m over two years.

Based on a three year contract with the possibility of two plus two year extensions, this is the first extension.

The contract will see Exova supply testing, advising and training services in materials technology and metrology to the Swedish defence authority, confirming Exova’s continued strength and expertise within these areas. The work will also include the provision of technical services to the Swedish Armed Forces (SAF).

Paul Barry, Group Managing Director, Industries, at Exova, said: “We are delighted to extend our long standing relationship through this two year contract extension which confirms Exova’s position as one of the leading providers of technically demanding services to the defence and technology industries. We build long term relationships with clients based on trust and this contract demonstrates our exceptional capabilities in the highly sensitive and technically advanced defence sector.”

The work spans a wide range of materials and will see experts from Exova Materials Technology in Sweden work as consultants to FMV in composite repair technology, polymer bonding and sealing technology, welding and brazing technology, non-destructive testing, coatings technology and fuel and lubricant technology for defence applications. The contract also includes the provision of metrological and calibration services for measurement tools and instruments to FMV and SAF by Exova Metech, the calibration and metrology division of Exova.
