Eurowings will launch a twice weekly service to the Austrian city from Manchester Airport on 4th December and from Birmingham Airport on the 9th December 2017.

Salzburg is famous for being the backdrop to the Sound of Music and will provide passengers with a gateway to some of the Alps’ best ski resorts.

Ivan Orec, Manager, Network Development & Airport Relations at Eurowings, said: “We are pleased to announce new two-weekly service from Salzburg to Manchester. Flights on the new route will operate every Monday and Friday starting from December.

On this route, with our low fares, we offer our passengers free of charge transport of their ski equipment.”

Stephen Turner, Commercial Director for Manchester Airport, said: “It’s great to see Eurowings expanding their presence here at Manchester with the introduction of this new route.  We have seen this year that the ski market continues to grow and we’re confident this new route to Salzburg will prove hugely popular with our passengers looking to take advantage of the great ski resorts in the Alps.”

The service will operate on Mondays and Fridays until 23 March 2018 on an A320 aircraft.

Eurowings currently flies to Cologne, Dusseldorf and Hamburg from Manchester all year round.

Also - less than 24 hours after celebrating its inaugural Birmingham-Vienna service - Eurowings announced yesterday that it will launch another new route from Birmingham to Salzburg in December.

Already operating Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Vienna, the new Salzburg flight will operate twice weekly from the 9th December, catering for the ski community and city breakers.

All services are planned with an A320 aircraft configured to 174 seats.

The Salzburg flight schedule will be as follows:

Wednesday:
Arrive from Salzburg at 0900 / Depart Birmingham at 0940

Saturday:
Arrive from Salzburg at 1305 / Depart Birmingham at 1345

William Pearson, Aviation Director for Birmingham Airport, said, “It’s fantastic to see Eurowings expanding its list of routes from Birmingham Airport so rapidly.

“Salzburg is a great ski destination but also a great city break city which we are sure will make this route very popular indeed with our passengers all year round.”

Eurowings is headquartered in Cologne and serves a network of domestic and European destinations as well as some long-haul routes.
Ivan Orec, Manager Network Development & Airport Relations for Eurowings said: “We are pleased to add a new Salzburg route to our Birmingham schedule, which will operate twice weekly, every Wednesday and Saturday, starting from the beginning of December.

“We are also looking forward to bringing more ski passengers to Salzburg and offer them free of charge transport of their ski equipment.”

The Austrian city of Salzburg is most famous for being the home of Mozart and The Sound of Music. The Old Town is burrowed below steep hills and stands beside the Salzach River. The formidable cliff top fortress is surrounded below by buildings with graceful domes and spires and the mountains beyond give a stunning city backdrop. Visitors will find a growing arts scene, fantastic food, beautifully manicured parks, quiet side streets and strong classical music traditions.
