EU October airport traffic up 6.3%

The report is the only air transport report which includes all types of civil aviation passenger flights: network, low cost, charter and others.

During October, passenger traffic across the European airport network grew by an average +5.7%. At EU airports, the average passenger traffic growth was +6.3%, while passenger traffic at Non-EU airports reported diminished growth of +3.7%.

Meanwhile, freight traffic at Europe’s airports was up +1.2%. Finally, aircraft movements increased by +1.6%, reflecting additional airline capacity in the market.

During the month, airports welcoming more than 25 million passengers per year (Group 1), airports welcoming between 10 and 25 million passengers (Group 2), airports welcoming between five and 10 million passengers (Group 3) and airports welcoming less than five million passengers per year (Group 4) reported an average adjustment +4.7%, +6.5%, +7.5% and +5.0%.

The airports which reported the highest increases in passenger traffic during October (compared with October 2014) are as follows:

GROUP 1:     Madrid (+13.5%), London LGW (+7.9%),
Barcelona (+7.6%), Istanbul IST (+6.9%) and Copenhagen (+6.3%)

GROUP 2:     Istanbul SAW (17.1%), Dublin (+16.3%),
Izmir (+14.0%), Ankara (+11.4%) and Athens (+10.2%)

GROUP 3:     Gothenburg GOT (+23.1%), Porto (+21.5%),
Berlin SXF (+19.0%), Kiev (+18.6%) and Milan LIN (+17.6%)

GROUP 4:     Ohrid (+126.0%), Ponta Delgada (+39.3%),
Liege LGG (+38.3%), Hammerfest (+38.0%) and Keflavik (+32.4%)



The 'ACI Europe Airport Traffic Report – October 2015’ includes 218 airports in total representing more than 88% of European air passenger traffic.
