Element has made a significant investment at its Aerospace EMC and Environmental Testing Center of Technical Excellence in Minneapolis – Bloomington that now allows the facility to test electrical power management systems for the full family of commercial and military aircraft.

The extension of the high speed rotational testing capability consists of a newly acquired high speed drive system with a 300HP motor coupled to a dual head oil cooled gearbox with outputs of 18,000 RPM and 30,000 RPM.

Rick Sluiters, EVP Aerospace, commented: “There is significant demand within the aerospace sector to be able to test generators for the largest electrical power management systems. This investment, alongside our full suite of RTCA DO160 and MIL-STD-461/810 environmental and electromagnetic interference (EMI) capabilities, means that we are able to offer our aerospace customers a fully comprehensive set of capabilities in product qualification testing.

Element’s technical expertise is such that very few organizations are able to provide this type of service, with the requisite level of quality control and project management demanded in the sector."

Element Minneapolis – Bloomington is an A2LA and ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory that provides an extensive range of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), EMI, environmental, climatic, dynamics, hydraulics and fuel system testing services. The facility routinely conducts testing on generators and offers needed support functions including oil/air cooling, hydraulic circuits, data acquisition and electrical load banks.
