In recognition of achieving Initial Operating Capability and to mark the first year anniversary of the Engineering Delivery Partner (EDP) service, the Aurora Engineering Partnership (in association with DE&S) has produced ‘Establishing the service, gearing for the future’, an Annual Review document covering October 2018 to September 2019.

The Engineering Delivery Partner (EDP) is a collaboration between the Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) Engineering Function and the Aurora Engineering Partnership.

QinetiQ, Atkins (a member of SNC-Lavalin Group) and BMT joined forces to form the Aurora Engineering Partnership to support the DE&S change agenda and drive benefits through the delivery of engineering services.

The EDP delivers essential engineering support for Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S), and the wider Ministry of Defence (MoD), in order that equipment and support programmes can be better understood, risk mitigated and opportunities for acceleration identified. It is the default route for DE&S procurement of engineering services. The EDP Agreement is also available for use by other MoD departments and agencies.

In its first 12 months, new joint governance, a new Provider Network and new ways of working have been established to provide and encourage a more vibrant, diverse and responsive capability for equipping and supporting British Armed Forces.

Breaking new ground has been a challenging exercise for all partners. However, looking back at the progress achieved over the EDP’s first year, the results are already demonstrating the benefits of more agile and responsive service arrangements.

In recognition of achieving Initial Operating Capability (May 2019) and to mark the first year anniversary of the EDP service (October 2019), the Aurora Engineering Partnership (in association with DE&S) produced ‘Establishing the service, gearing for the future’, an Annual Review document covering October 2018 to September 2019.

The Review reflects on some of those experiences and challenges in setting up the contract; some of the successes so far and the plans to further improve the service for the future.

It has been a great start but there’s still plenty of work to do to accelerate our continuous improvements to progress through the second and third phases of EDP in order to continue to better support the Front Line.
