CriticalStreaming appoints Iain Janes as CEO
CriticalStreaming.com, the specialist in wireless CCTV streaming to the transport and logistics sectors, has appointed Iain Janes as the firm's Chief Executive Officer. Iain Janes (right) has been given a mandate to work alongside technology provider Vemotion to provide the firm’s products and services to both public and private transport industries in the UK and overseas. Janes joins CriticalStreaming.com with a track record as a successful business owner and entrepreneur, specialising in technology and with a strong eye for investment opportunities.
A print business owner in the 1980s, Janes moved into digital repro systems and became a pioneer in that market, before moving into a media software, websites and the CD Roms business. In setting up eyetracker ten years ago, Janes was one of the first to introduce eye tracking as a market research tool. Janes already has major investments in a number of new tech firms, including a NASDAQ company, so his business experience is unquestionable. Iain has also previously worked for Vemotion for two years (from 2007-2009), and the opportunity to work with Vemotion technology and CEO Stewart McCone again, was too good to pass up. “Vemotion has been making considerable strides in wireless technology in recent years, attracting my attention and the notice of global players, particularly concerning live streaming innovations from public transport networks,” said CriticalStreaming CEO, Iain Janes, when commenting on his new role.
CriticalStreaming was recently appointed by Vemotion as its first specialist solutions provider, operating solely as a delivery mechanism for Vemotion products and services to the transport and logistics sector. While CCTV is nothing new, Iain saw Vemotion’s practical simulation of the technology on public transport for Centro and the Safer Travel Partnership in Birmingham in 2015 and recognised the ability to stream live evidence quality video was new and represented a real opportunity to expand into transport and logistics generally.
“It is quite simply the best in class streaming over GPRS, 3G and mobile networks. Public transport operators in France have taken it on board and with a European base we have the foundations of a global reach. While public transport presents an obvious opportunity, cash in transit; haulage; rail; coach; marinas and waterways; even personal protection and security will be key markets for us”, Iain concluded.
