Cyprus’ largest airline, Cobalt Air, has joined IATA’s Billing Settlement Plan (BSP) in the UK, effective immediately, enabling all IATA accredited travel agents to sell and issue Cobalt Air tickets.

BSP facilitates and significantly simplifies the selling, reporting and remitting procedures of IATA Accredited passenger sales agents.

The move brings Cobalt, which has quickly grown to become Cyprus’ largest airline in under two years, on track to carry over 700,000 passengers this year on its 21-strong route network, ever closer to the important travel agency community. Four of those routes are from the UK, with 20 flights a week this summer to Cyprus and Greece.

Paul Simmons, CCO of Cobalt Air, commented: “We are delighted to take BSP live in the UK, which brings us even closer to the travel trade and our customers.  Now, hundreds of IATA accredited travel agencies all over the UK will be able to sell and issue electronic tickets on our domestic, European and Middle East network.  We have more exciting initiatives coming up in the near future to further enhance our offering to our passengers.  We thank every one of them for taking Cobalt Air to their hearts, many of whom have become loyal and frequent flyers.”

Chris Peristiani, Cyplon Holidays, London, commented: “We are delighted that Cobalt will be going live on BSP UK. This allow us to sell Cobalt more easily. A good move in a most positive way that shows the airline is agent friendly. Here’s to a good working relationship with Cobalt.”

Cobalt Air is already on the Sabre Global Distribution System and is currently working to join AMADEUS GDS within the next few weeks.

Cobalt Air, which joined IATA at the end of last year, flies dedicated Airbus A320/A319 aircraft with a two class (12 seats in Business and 144 in Economy) arrangement on many of its routes, including London Heathrow.
