CND wins Defence ERS Silver Award
Cyber security company Computer Network Defence (CND) has been awarded the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award.

The Bath-based company is only the fourth business to receive the award from the Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset this year.
CND is one of the country’s leading cyber-security companies and combines a consultancy with a recruitment business in the growing sector.
The accolade is awarded to companies that are making a demonstrable effort to support, recruit and develop armed forces’ personnel.
CND’s recruitment agency supplies its clients with cyber security experts of whom more than 40% have been veterans or personnel leaving the military.
CND also provides assistance with the CVs of service leavers to ensure their military cyber security skills and experience are understood by civilians.
In addition to actively seeking to employ staff who are leaving the military, over the last 10 years CND has taken on members of the forces who have been medically discharged, and the spouses of service personnel who are currently serving.
Andy Cuff, Managing Director of CND and with 36 years of military service himself, said: “We recognise the valuable skills, professionalism and dedication that service leavers can bring to industry and especially within cyber security.
“We are all incredibly proud to have been awarded the ERS Silver Award and we’re committed to continuing our support for the defence community.”
The Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, Mrs Anne Maw, said: “It is vitally important that we look after those who are serving, and have served, in our armed forces.
“CND is a company that is absolutely dedicated to supporting these personnel and it was a pleasure to meet Andy and present him with the award.”
Jeff Ames, Chief Technology Officer of CND, a former RAF SNCO of 22 years’ service, said: “Service personnel are a known commodity, they not only have a great deal of integrity, reliability and professionalism but they are also extremely well trained and can quickly adapt to any situation or requirement.”
CND employs reservists as members of staff, offering a number of incentives such as paid leave to help their staff fulfil their reserve commitment and flexibility to attend training. These reservists have also been mobilised for active service on a number of occasions.
