CAV SYSTEMS RECEIVES CAA DESIGN ORGANISATION APPROVAL

CAV Systems, an in-flight ice protection system specialist has been awarded Design Organisation Approval (DOA) status by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The approval follows a rigorous assessment of CAV’s processes, procedures, quality management system and capabilities, and verifies that it has the required competencies in place to amend or upgrade existing or aging designs in line with the regulations set out by the CAA.

With more than 10,000 aircraft and 100 aircraft variations fitted with its ice protection systems, the approval will further enhance the range of services CAV offers to its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers, including the ability to provide compliance regulations checks in their capacity as Compliance Verification Engineers (CVEs).

In line with the scope of the approval, CAV can now make minor changes to existing Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) without CAA approval, make major changes to existing STCs with CAA approval. The company can also apply for new STCs on CS-23 & CS-LSA and design minor repairs to component parts.
