Cardiff Airport has today announced the appointment of Terry Morgan as a Non-Executive Director, who will offer additional expertise to the Board of Directors which is chaired by Roger Lewis.

The Airport Board has huge ambition for the growth of the business and this appointment will see Mr Morgan contribute to the development and delivery of the Airport’s strategic business plan and upcoming Master Plan.  This appointment follows the recent promotion of Deb Barber to Chief Executive Officer, and in parallel, the Airport is also recruiting an additional member of the Executive team who will be responsible for Airport planning and development.

Mr Morgan joined the British Airports Authority (BAA) as a management trainee in 1980 and since then has held a number of senior positions in the airport industry, including the role of Managing Director at London Stansted Airport. Over the years Mr Morgan has also gained a wealth of experience in all areas of conducting airport business in an international environment. From 1997 – 2000, Mr Morgan was Chief Executive of Australia Pacific Airports Corporation and between 2007 and 2013 he held senior executive positions at London Heathrow Airport, including interim Chief Operating Officer and Technical Standards Director, the latter role included leading the airport’s governance in aviation safety and security compliance.

Terry Morgan has been an independent aviation consultant since 2013, advising major UK Airports on matters such as infrastructure, airport investment, operations and development.

Mr Morgan has sat on the UK National Aviation Security Committee, the board of Airports Council International and the board of the UK Airports Operators Association. He is a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

Roger Lewis, Chairman of Cardiff Airport, said: "I am delighted to welcome Terry Morgan to the Board of Cardiff Airport as a Non-Executive Director. To have secured Terry speaks volumes about the way Cardiff Airport is now so positively perceived within the world of aviation. Terry brings over 35 years of experience, having worked with some of the industry's major players.

“Alongside our two other Non-Executive Directors, Margaret Llewelyn OBE, Chair of Visit Wales and Geraint Davies, former Head of Grant Thornton, and our three Executive Directors we have a strong and dynamic Board with the right skill set to address the challenges of marketing, developing and operating an airport in an international and highly regulated context. We have achieved much over the past twelve months and we are forecasting continued growth in the year ahead. We still have much to do but I am confident that with such a great team of people across all departments at Cardiff Airport we will deliver an airport for the people of Wales which will sustain for decades to come"

Terry Morgan, Non-Executive Director at Cardiff Airport added: “To be joining Cardiff Airport at such a crucial point in its development is an excellent opportunity. I have been following the progress and positive changes at Cardiff over the past couple of years and it certainly is heading in a new and exciting direction. I look forward to working with the other members of the Airport Board and offering my experience and knowledge to deliver a sustainable and successful national Airport for Wales.”
