Manchester-based BluJay Solutions has entered into an agreement with KLG Europe to implement Blujay's Transportation Management for Forwarders and Control Tower solutions across KLG's international transport operation.

Under the terms of the contract, BluJay Solutions will deploy its Transportation Management for Forwarders and Control Tower solutions. The implementation will start in Shanghai to support the freight forwarding operation, including BluJay’s Control Tower to enable collaboration with the partners and carriers involved, as well as to provide KLG’s customers the necessary visibility on purchase orders and shipment status. The solutions will then be rolled out in Rotterdam; to increase efficiency, export orders from China will be directly used to manage the imports and further distribution into Europe.

KLG surveyed suppliers in both China and the Netherlands and found local solutions covering the freight forwarding requirements. BluJay’s references and experience with intermodal and multi-national freight operations were key factors in the selection. In addition, BluJay’s Control Tower enables KLG to improve efficiency in its collaboration with partners, providing the customer the necessary visibility into the order process at a very early stage.

BluJay Solutions offered the Software as a Service, for which several performance tests were conducted to ensure the solution can be optimally used in both Asia and Europe. KLG also valued the capability of real-time information on shipments in progress for its partners and customers.

Tom Hoorn, managing director at KLG Shanghai, commented: "We were looking for a solution that could manage the end-to-end transport processes, and in addition, provide our key customer the visibility they needed. BluJay was able to satisfy our key requirements, and demonstrated experience of successful implementations of its software for other international freight forwarders. This gives us the confidence not only that the solution will be delivered to a high standard, but also that it is scalable to support our future growth."

The solution will provide KLG one centrally managed freight order management system with a holistic view across the regions, and the ability to execute locally (e.g, Chinese language and mandatory finance systems), with multi-lingual/multi-currency requirements supported. BluJay provides an order system to book, manage, and monitor the complete shipment lifecycle, including the multi-mode routing. The goal is to not only improve productivity and reduce operating costs, but also to allow complete and accurate visibility of account activity by customer, while providing agents the necessary visibility to seamlessly integrate their services in the operation; this is crucial to support the company's ambitious plans for growth in the region.

Frank Sijpheer, sales director, added: "The complexity of the global supply chain is a domain in which BluJay is expert. The deep functionality afforded by the combination of our Global Trade Network, Customs Management, and Control Tower solutions will provide KLG with the expertise and ability to operate efficiently and effectively. The solution will address the issues associated with routing of shipment over multiple depots with multiple modes of transport, whilst providing the benefits of accelerated delivery, cost minimisation and maintaining control of goods. This enables KLG to provide the highest levels of performance and reliability to its customers. Drawing upon our extensive logistics, transport, and control tower experience, a skilled team of consultants and trainers will support KLG through the entire implementation process. BluJay will support KLG firstly in its regional growth strategy by rapid delivery of new services to market, allowing it to take advantage of market opportunities and capacity on specific routes. We are delighted to welcome KLG Europe as a BluJay customer."
