Babcock wins Royal Navy hydraulic supply contract
Babcock International has been awarded a five year contract by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to supply hydraulic equipment on-board the Royal Navys surface ships and submarines.

Babcock’s bid was successful for both Submarine First Level Equipment and General Hydraulic Equipment.
To deliver the contract, Babcock will utilise a unique set of technology and engineering capabilities to maintain, repair and manage the complex systems and equipment, ensuring they are safe and meet customer policy and standards.
Martin Laity, Director Mission Systems at Babcock’s Defence Systems Technology, said: “We are pleased to have been awarded this contract to support these critical services and assets for the Royal Navy.
“To support the significant level of technical complexity associated with the hydraulic product range, we will also draw on technical support from our Warships and Submarine businesses, which have significant experience in commissioning equipment for similar contracts.”
The five year contract, with two year option, will include new manufactured equipment spares supply, equipment repairs and the provision of ad-hoc technical services for on-going post design activities.
The work will be carried out by a team of technical Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) drawing on their dedicated Hydraulic repairs and overhaul capability in the Combined Weapons and Equipment Workshop (CWEW) facility.
This facility already undertakes a wide range of hydraulic work in support of both ships and submarines maintenance periods.
