The new Muffler Ducting offers improved noise reduction.

The new Acoustic Muffler Ducting uses new materials and a radical new interior configuration to reduce the weight of the duct by replacing a fibreglass baffle layer with acoustic dampening foam and remove the need for an internal sleeving layer.

The muffler will be available in a range of sizes and in both flexible duct and rigid duct configurations to provide all the possible options needed across the full spectrum of aircraft types.

Managing Director of AVS-SYS, Paul Heaton, commented: “Our new Muffler Ducting offers great advantages to the aerospace industry with fantastic weight saving and an acoustic dampening performance that we believe can make flying a more pleasurable experience.”

The Ducting has been developed by with the assistance of grant funding from the National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme (NATEP).  The NATEP scheme is aimed at aerospace supply chain companies including SMEs to help them develop innovative technologies while enhancing their technology management capabilities, increasing their ability to win new business with higher tier companies anywhere in the world.

NATEP is a £40m three-year programme funded by the Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI) – its objective is to deliver 100 novel technologies through collaborative projects within the UK aerospace supply chain. NATEP is managed by ADS, actively supported by the Aerospace Growth Partnership, the regional aerospace alliances and sponsored by the UK aerospace Primes and Tier one companies.

AVS-SYS Ltd provides high quality engineering, design, integration and manufacturing of products and complete systems utilising composite materials. It specialises in the aerospace sector across the full spectrum of commercial/military, fixed/rotary wing and manned/unmanned air vehicles. It provides complete program management over the lifetime of a project from initial concept design, system integration, manufacturing and qualification through to in-service support.
