Global pilot training provider Airways Aviation is today launching the industry's first interactive digital STEM curriculum for its foundation pilot training course, as part of the company's education solutions for future pilots.

Working with leading digital aviation publisher Padpilot, Airways Aviation is investing in ground-based training excellence, providing all students embarking on its foundation course with the interactive STEM-A iBook. The curriculum covers science, technology, engineering and maths, including trigonometry, airflow, and hydraulics, designed to prepare students for pilot training.

Airways Aviation’s foundation course is delivered at its foundation schools globally. The unique foundation school model provides entry-level training to people who are interested in becoming pilots, giving them short-term insight into pilot training before they decide whether to commit to the full training course.

Ian Cooper, CEO Airways Aviation, says: “Our foundation schools allow students to test their skills and aptitude, and importantly, whether they genuinely enjoy aviation, before embarking on in-depth study. We pride ourselves on providing students with engaging and innovative training, and Padpilot’s STEM-A course is the perfect introduction to this fast-paced industry, preparing students to undertake qualifications to become a commercial pilot.”

Graham Cownie, managing director, Padpilot, says: “Creating aviation manuals that educate and inspire is what drives us. This exciting new iBook created for Airways Aviation’s foundation course will give vital STEM knowledge to young, aspiring pilots and get their aviation journey off to a great start.”

As well as producing industry-first curriculum programmes for its foundation course, Airways Aviation has launched tertiary qualifications at Australia’s Southern Cross University, and at the University of South Wales, as part of its ongoing commitment to excellence in academic and practical training.

Airways Aviation has a strong portfolio of pilot training academies and foundation schools, including EASA certified schools in the UK and Spain, and CASA and EASA certified schools in Australia. The company’s network of foundation schools allows pilots and cadets to undertake simulator and ground-based training in key hubs including Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Bangkok, Thailand; and Jakarta, Indonesia. Plans are in place to further expand the presence of foundation schools globally.
