With ADS releasing its 2015 Commercial Order & Delivery Data earlier today, here are 5 key facts you might not realise about what the figures show:
1 – The value of aircraft deliveries for the UK has increased by £10bn in 5 years. Back at the end of 2010, aircraft deliveries were worth around £13bn to the UK’s Aerospace industry – this has jumped dramatically to around £23bn in 2015.
2 – The aircraft backlog has nearly tripled in 9 years. Back in 2006, the aircraft backlog was only 4,988 – it has now increased to 13,331, a 167% rise!
3 – On average, a new aircraft was ordered every 4 hours and delivered every 6.5 hours globally in 2015.
4 – Widebody delivery rates have doubled in the last 5 years. 195 widebody aircraft were delivered in 2010 – however new platforms and the ramp up of existing types to reflect demand, has seen a 111% increase to 411 widebody aircraft produced in 2015.
5 – Since the start of 2010, for every 1 aircraft delivered, 2.13 aircraft have been ordered. This has pushed the backlog up to record levels of 13,331.
